Megan’s Story

Community Safety Activist and Survivor, Megan Hobson was a 16 year old honor roll student with dreams of becoming a doctor when she was shot with an assault rifle in a drive by shooting in Miami Gardens, FL in 2012. The events of that night changed everything for her. After a month long Battle for her life, Megan resolved that she has to speak up, not just for herself, but for others like her who may have not had a chance to share their story.

For nearly a decade Megan has been using her experience to inspire change as a Survivor, Gun Violence Prevention and Healing Justice Advocate, healer, youth mentor, and storyteller —Dedicated to spreading awareness on the gun violence and crime ravaging our communities. She’s addressing the unmet needs of survivors as they journey through healing by providing safe spaces for survivors to talk about Surviving Gun Violence and providing trauma-informed healing services to those who are often overlooked.
